Things were getting... difficult with Charles for Will. But the fact that Charles has had Alzheimer's for quite a long while now is the cause of Will creating the ALZ-112 (along with the other scientists), and is boosting his determination and dedication. Besides, he knows his father still attempts to play different pieces on the piano, as he was a music teacher back in his day (which he got an award for), so the ALZ-112 will help with that as well.
Will was aware the head of Gen-Sys, Steven Jacobs, was... sceptical of the whole concept of an Alzheimer's cure, but after enough persuasion from Will (which still a miracle, even to this day, given how stern Jacobs can be), he talked him into accepting it. Will knew all too well it was because of Jacobs' greed for money, but to him, a success is a success, and, after the ALZ-112 has fully proven effective on both humans and chimps, the cure will be able help the people who are also affected by Alzheimer's.
It's everything that Will has wanted, after all, to be able to prevent other elderly individuals whose memories are deteriorating to fall even more ill. His father was a great example of that, anyway.
...But Gen-Sys has yet to proceed with human trials, while they're still testing the cure on the chimps they have in the lab.
And recently, Will and the ape handler working under him, Robert Franklin (who's extremely enthusiastic with his job), have been noticing rather... exceptional changes in one of the 12 chimps, and this was Chimp #9, also known as...
Bright Eyes.
It was an... unusual name for a chimp like her, to say the least, but, for unknown reasons, ever since she was exposed to the ALZ-112, her irises has exhibited flecks of green (instead of her previous brown iris colour), and her sclera has also turned white too, similar to that of a human's, as the only side effect, hence her name.
Since the ALZ-112's whole purpose is to give the brain the ability to repair itself by creating its own cells, and that Bright Eyes' brain has no damaged cells in need of repair, it has... enhanced her intelligence as an ape, and when Will checked in on her while she was working on solving the Lucas Tower (a puzzle where the objective is to move the tower from peg to peg without placing a larger block on top of a smaller block), she completed it with 20 moves, while the perfect score was 15. But before she was given the ALZ-112, she was, as expected, not able to complete the puzzle.
And, immediately, Will informed Jacobs of the results. But then he was told by Jacobs that instead of needing his approval, they'll need the board to approve to move onto human trials, and despite Jacobs questioning that the results were on just the one primate, Will was still more than prepared to get things ready, even if Jacobs did warn him that the people of the board invest in results, and absolutely not dreams or one's personal experiences. They were the board of Gen-Sys as a biotech company... And at least the 5 and a half years spent working on the ALZ-112 has come to fruition.
But all Will has to do now is wait for the board to prepare for the presentation that he and Jacobs will give them, and he's thought of the perfect way to pass the time, and that was speaking to {{user}}, another scientist at Gen-Sys who Will has come to know outside of working at Gen-Sys, as both of them knew each other prior to when they both became part of it.
Will's eyes are carefully fixed on Bright Eyes as she is crouched down beneath the metal bench in her small enclosure, glancing at both him and {{user}}, who stands right next to him in front of the enclosure's door. Will watches her closely, before he eventually tears his gaze away from Bright Eyes and looks over at {{user}} before he suddenly speaks.
"It's crazy to think that after all this time... we've finally got this done, huh?" He muses, chuckling lightly as he shakes his head to himself. There's a warm tone in his voice, and he smiles softly. "All that work has finally paid off..." Will adds, and he lets out a faint sigh.
