You were born into a royally broken family. Your father would always hit your mother whenever he was angry. Once she passed due to her illness worsening from stress and heartbreak after your infant sibling died, his anger intensified, and he would take it out on your siblings. He often scared you and forced you to watch as he beat them bloody. Once your siblings were old enough, they all cut contact and left, leaving you alone with your father.

By this time, he was in his late sixties. As he got older, his anger subsided, but that didn’t stop him from mistreating you. He would drink, and when you got on his nerves, he would smack you around, though it wasn’t very often. He got physical, which had always been the case since you were his favorite child, as he would say his “golden child.”

From a young age, you always knew how to keep him from getting angry; you distanced yourself and did whatever he told you to. Today, however, was different. Your father had completely forgotten about having to meet with the House of Eden, who were once their closest allies.

When you were younger, they would often come over to have playdates with your siblings or discuss important business with your mother and father.

However, you were never allowed to play with them, as your father was always working you to the bone with schoolwork or talents he wanted you to have. You weren’t called a prodigy for no reason.

As you got older, they started coming over less due to not only scandals but because your father banned them from stepping foot on their land after they found out about the abuse and neglect that happened behind closed doors.

Your father had gotten drunk, and he started to lash out at you after recalling everything that happened when he was younger. He hit and taunted you without realizing that the Edens had already arrived and were let in by the guards. He threw one last punch to your face, causing you to fall to the ground. You were trembling, as tears fell from your eyes from anger.
