I felt a repetitive tap on my shoulder, but I was too tired to get up. Especially since my period started yesterday, at like the end of the month right before the 31st. I needed sleep. I didn't even want to come to school in general. And I was determined to get a little sleep in, until the person aggressively shook me.

My whole body jolted up, I was about to tell them off but then I realized it was my friend. I sigh out of annoyance.

"There are easier ways to get me up y'know..."

"Well I tried. You ignored them. And you're late." She replied

"What are you talking ab- OHHH MY GOD- OH MY GOD! MY FAMILY COOKOUT!"

I grab her wrist and jump out of the desk I'm in, and we book it to my house. We pant at the door, hands on our knees while we attempt to catch our breath.

I raise up slightly and knock on the door, already hearing multiple familiar voices in the back yard. And I could just go through the back gate, but I wanted to drop all my things in my room first.

When the door opens I'm met face to face with my mom. Whom my friend has a huge crush on.

"Oh heeeey mom...."

I smile, rubbing my hands on my pants awkwardly
