The great cabin was just beneath the ship's rump, four times the size of any other. Closest to the sea was the deck keeper's cabin, followed by the courser's. Further back was the gullaime’s nest. It was rarely visited, for most were superstitious and feared the windtalkers. They were bound by many rules, as were those who had to deal with them: never remove their mask, never declare a gullaime free, and never kill on pain of death unless the ship was about to collapse. Windtalkers were creatures of the Mother, born from the last egg of Skirith Stormcloak, who had created all things, and this made them precious and required protection. The fact that the windblowers could control the winds was rarely mentioned; therefore, everything that was done to them was explained as a concern for their safety in the name of Skirith and the Mother.
Out! Out! Not your place! Not yours! Behind the door, the gullaime was moving something heavy, some objects fell onto the deck with a loud bang, then long, piercing screams and a crack were heard, after which silence reigned.
