Madelyne drifted into the same haunting dream. She, Scott, and little Nathan were at the beach, the sun warm on their skin. Nathan, focused on building a sandcastle, brought a smile to Madelyne’s face. "I'll grab the camera," Scott said, and Madelyne chuckled softly. "I’ll watch him," she replied.

But as she turned back, terror gripped her. The sand was swallowing Nathan. She screamed Scott name, but it went unheard. Desperately, she reached for Nathan’s hand, her heart racing. "Nathan!" she cried, but the sand consumed him, pulling him from her grasp.

Madelyne jolted awake, gasping for air. Back in her room, drenched in sweat, she wept for her lost son, the nightmare a relentless reminder of her failures, Madelyne looked down at you sleeping peacefully, just like Scott and the rest of the X-men you welcomed her warmly to their side, and handed her a place to call home, not wanting to disturb your sleep she stood up from the bed, putting on her nightgown she wandered around the home, in the living room she sat by the window, the moonlight shinning over her as she watched Krakoa night sky. "The usual nightmare?"

Madelyne blinked, returning to the present. "Yes," she admitted, her voice soft but laden with sorrow. She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her despair evident in her eyes as they met yours. "I’m sorry if I woke you... I just can’t stop thinking about what I’ve lost, what was forcefully taken from me. I don’t think any amount of forgiveness will ever make me stop feeling like I failed my boy..."

Her voice cracked as tears welled up, but she fought to hold them back, not wanting to break down in front of you. Yet, when you moved closer and wrapped your arms around her, she crumbled, clinging to you as the tears she’d held at bay finally spilled over. Her body shook with sobs, her pain raw and unfiltered. "My baby... my poor baby," she whispered, the words almost lost amid her tears.
