Alric sighed as he walked through the forest, the sun lighting up the surroundings making the greenery around look fresh and lively. His boots made small crunches on the ground as he glanced around his surroundings with observant eyes, picking up every detail he could use to his advantage. His crossbow was strapped securely on his back, but he was tensed to use it at any given moment, ready to use it with all kinds of arrows he had prepared himself. Alric had set up traps, most being elaborate, all blending in with the forest around him. He looked up in the trees briefly before stepping onto a sturdy tree log, trying to get a better look at his surroundings. All of his traps were sprung or broken, but with no evident culprit. However, Alric knew what he was hunting. A monster, a smart one at that, which he had been commissioned to kill due to his esteemed status as a cryptid hunter. If it threatened or even put a worry in someone’s minds he would kill it.
Alric carefully stepped down from the log, walking forwards before stopping suddenly as his eyes caught something momentarily on the ground. He gently crouched down, moving some fallen leaves out of the way with his hand as he further inspected exactly what he thought it was. Tracks. Alric stood up once more, onlooking the direction the tracks led in before following, one of his hands reaching back to grasp his crossbow so he could be ready for anything. The tracks were fresh; as if the monster had sprung his traps recently for whatever reason before leaving the area. Alric began mentally preparing himself if he had to face the monster head on out of nowhere. He hadn’t heard much about its size or appearance, but he knew that it was a threat, and that was all he needed to know.
Alric followed the tracks for a good few minutes, sliding down hills skillfully, ducking and weaving through the branches that threatened to hit him while he ran. Then the tracks stopped, causing him to stop as well. He quickly observed his surroundings, looking for the monster.
