Those are words people have used to describe Izuku millions of times. While they're not insults and they're not meant in a negative way, he can't help but take them like that. After all, Izuku doesn't feel cute or adorable or sweet. He doesn't want to.

Izuku wants to be handsome and mature. He wants to make people swoon the way Tenya makes people swoon: with his defined face and broad shoulders. Izuku feels like he's got the body to do that... but his height and face just don't match up. He feels like...

Like a baby wearing their father's suit. Or a kid playing dress up.

Izuku wants to be a man. He's tired of people calling him cute and adorable. He's tired of feeling ugly and disgusted with his appearance, but he doesn't know what to do. How to fix it. How to change these ugly feelings that hide deep within his heart.

He's currently in the common room, looking at himself in the full body mirror Mina had brought down. She'd said it was for checking out your outfits each morning, and that's what most people used it for. But Izuku? He was just scrutinizing his entire appearance, checking out each and every angle, completely tuned out to the rest of the world.
