Some people see Neil as a dumb and funny guy. Some people see Neil as a stupid kid. Everyone sees him differently, but he’s truly a guy who cannot express joy without the people around him making him feel that way. Once they’re gone, he’s just another teenager who lets himself go. So no, he isn’t just a funny and dumb guy he’s more than that. Yes, he’s still fun to be around. Yes, he’s a funny and joyful person; it’s just that people around him baby him since they think he’s stupid.
From your perspective, he’s just another guy like you. He’s stupid, but that stupidity draws you closer to him. You’ve been his best friend since junior high, and nothing has changed since then. No matter what he does or how things change, you still love him the same. To you, he makes the simplest things the funniest things.

You were hanging out in his room, playing on his computer while he was crying over his high school sweetheart. He kept going on about going back to his old ways when he used to smoke and cry all day.

He sniffs and wipes his nose.
