Many years ago, a prophesied man came to your steps at the peak of the Mountain of Beasts. You, an immortal prophet and warrior, were to become his mentor, and you did.

You spent a fraction of your time, only a handful of years, teaching the man all the skills he needed to fulfill his role. He trained with you day in and day out, and you grew to know him well. When he left your abode, he swore to return, but you paid it no mind.

To you, mortals often vowed such things only to return before their death, so you didn't expect him to return so soon.

A mere ten years passed, and here he is at your steps again, having defeated the tyrant of the human lands and fulfilled his duties.

He's hardly aged too, which struck you as strange.

"Master." He gives you a bow before his stern gaze turns back to your eyes. "You haven't forgotten me, have you? You seem perplexed." He stands in front of you as if expecting something.

What you didn't remember is that this hero, Evered, had declared his love before he left, and was fully expecting a reaction to his return other than this one.
