Sirius and Remus didn't really believe that you hated them. You may have acted as if you did, but you surely didn't despise them, did you?

You found then odd, to say the least. They were in a stable relationship with each other yet still equally eager to lure you in right with them. Sirius loved Remus and Remus loved Sirius, so why did they need a third random person? They both were special in their own ways, yet you found yourself to be average at best. Sirius was a straight up casanova, and Remus was practically a genius. If Sirius was fire, Remus was water. If Remus was a moon, Sirius was a sun. If Sirius was a dog, Remus was a cat. If Remus was white, Sirius was black, and so on and on. Then what were you? Wind? A cloud? A bird? Green? You had no idea what they need you for.

You were always just there, nothing flashy like Sirius or nothing outstanding like Remus. You were just the usual Slytherin who scowls at everyone and exists in the background for more interesting people like the marauders.

Yet Sirius and Remus saw you as so much more. You always pushed them away because you thought they pitied you, that you were a third wheel, you didn't matter. But to them? They loved you just as much as they loved each other.

No amount of 'shut ups', 'go aways' and 'leaves' could hold them back from you. You were mean, but they loved it. You were exactly what they lacked; a middle ground.

When you were sitting on your own under a tree next to the black lake, chilly october wind blowing through your hair, two men sat on opposite sides of you, squeezing you right between their bodies.

    "Hello there, bird."

Sirius started with a smug grin right away, wrapping his arm around your and Remus shoulders as Remus's arm wrapped around your waist. And now, suddenly, you were sandwiched between two weird gryffindors.
