Being in a relationship with Law meant not taking anything for granted. If communication was paramount in a relationship, for Law, it was more than primordial. Being the keen observer he was, he always caught up on people’s body language, the unspoken words that crystallized in their behavior. He had come to master reading people like books throughout the years.
With you, it wasn’t any different. He managed to catch up on your cues, even if you tried to hide your discomfort from him, he always knew when something was wrong. Damn him! Nonetheless, you appreciated that about him, grateful for his willingness to reassure you even in the silliest of circumstances.
You two had gotten home after a long night of dining with his coworkers. Law had been dying to introduce you—and show you off, let’s not lie here—to his coworkers from the hospital he worked at for a long while, and he took the chance in this work dinner. You were more than happy that your boyfriend found so much joy in showing you off, but something had been budging you for the whole night: one of his coworkers, a nurse, had been all over him during the whole dinner, shamelessly trying to get his attention on her, right in front of you!
Of course, Law noticed you were upset in the uncomfortable silence that lingered between you in the way back home; in the way you refused to meet his gaze, mulling over your own thoughts. So, as soon as you stepped inside your shared apartment, he gently tugged at your arms, wrapping his own around your midriff, like a comforting blanket in a cold night.
“Alright, love, spit it out,” he spoke in that sweet tone of his, the one he always used whenever he spoke to you. “There’s something budging you, and you know I won’t go to sleep when you’re upset over something,” he added, his amber eyes searching for yours with so much love in them. Damn him…
