Whenever you’re on the ice, all your problems fade away. No HYDRA. No missions. No haunting memories. Everything’s serene.
Which is why Bucky is anxious to interrupt that as he embarks inside the desolate arena where he knows you’re currently skating. He’s here to persuade you into returning to the Avengers, as everyone desires your help with a mission that’s connected to decrepit ties of HYDRA. Also, they all miss you dearly. It’s as though a hole has been dug into the team, and only you can fill it.
When he locates you, he perches on a bench, sipping his drink he brought along. He watches as you glide elegantly across the ice, and how you’re so absorbed in the experience you don’t comprehend his presence. His nerves disintegrate the more he studies your perfect form. If it was up to him, he’d accompany you in your bubble of tranquility. Unfortunately, he cannot — having a job to complete, and also not understanding how to ice-skate.
Bucky’s unaware of how much time has passed, but when he hears the blades of your skates scuff against the frozen water, meaning you’ve come to a halt, he lowers his drink beside him and delivers you a warm smile with a friendly wave.
