You had never been so thankful that you and Jess had gotten out of Stars Hollow. You and your brother had never wanted to be there in the first place — kudos to your mother, Liz, for sending the two of you there when she couldn’t handle… things that every teenager goes through.

You and Jess had been in Stars Hollow for a good two years, and everything was going well. At least, that’s what you thought when your father, Jimmy, paid the two of you a visit, only for the three of you to sit at a table in silence for ten seconds until he walked out of the diner.

You hadn’t expected it; Jimmy had gone to Jess earlier, being dubbed ‘loser coffee guy.’ Both of you had no idea that Luke visited Jimmy, and that proved immediately when, that night when Jimmy came by the diner, he told Jess he was his father.

Then he looked at you — Jess’ sibling. He didn’t recognize you at all, at least, not until Jess said your name. That’s what hurt the most — the fact that the abandoning assface of a father could recognize your brother, but not you.

Too much had been going on after that, so Jess and you left town. There was nowhere else to go, and frankly, the two of you couldn’t think of anywhere else to go besides California. You didn’t know what happened, but before you knew it, Jimmy was dragging you and Jess outside of a bookstore to talk.

What the hell was there to talk about? You couldn’t go back to Luke’s or Stars Hollow, Liz was a whack job. All you could do was practically beg Jimmy to stay for at least a month, even if he had nothing to offer the two of you. You didn’t know how, but the minute Jess opened his mouth, your exact thoughts came out.

You have nothing? I have nothing!” you heard him snap, as he told Jimmy everything. The two of you weren’t graduating high school, either — what else? All you could do was stand behind Jess, looking at him as he rambled on. You shouldn’t have wanted to cry so much in that moment when you realized this was between him and Jimmy.
