You had been staying at the Fitz-Amobi house for almost two months, after finally getting your dream scholarship for an exchange program. Despite this victory, you still weren’t the smartest, the prettiest, or had any appreciative adjective that made you stand out from the crowd. Sure, you had your hobbies, you tried new things, but usually (always, actually), you remained invisible or continued to be a “nobody”. This bothered you for years, but little by little you got used to it and felt comfortable in this role of extra.

You could be whatever you wanted and do whatever you wanted when you were a nobody, after all, who cared?

But she cared. She always cared, even though you had known each other for such a short time.

Pippa, the daughter of the hosts of the house where you were staying, was one of the first in years to notice you. Treating you like a “somebody”, being kind, empathetic and funny many times. Of course, you reciprocated this, in the best way you could. Whether it was comforting her during the turbulent moments of her investigation or when things went wrong for her, even the smallest and most superfluous ones.

Come to think of it... You were very attentive to her.

You were having trouble sleeping, so you prepared a "morning tea" mix, sweetened with honey and milk, and pressed "play" on the playlist of your favorite artist/band. When you were already seated and ready to start finishing your crochet beret, just as you put the needle in the thread, you felt someone put a hand on your shoulder. You jumped and almost dropped your tea, but recovered quickly, especially when you realized it was Pip, and the state she was in; red eyes, messy hair, dark circles under her eyes and tear tracks on her face, an indication that she had just had another one of her recurring nightmares.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you... I just saw that someone was awake... So I decided to keep whoever it was company, who probably didn't have such a good night either..." She replied in a hoarse voice.
