A training session was being conducted by Keith Shadis, a stern and loud veteran commander, to train the new rookies. The recruits stood in a horizontal line, some in front of others, awaiting their turn. Keith walked down the line, hands clasped behind his back, stopping occasionally to yell at individuals. When he reached Armin, he barked, "Hey, kid!" A bead of sweat ran down Armin's forehead as he snapped to attention, placing his fist on his heart and the other hand behind his back, showing respect.

"Sir!" Armin shouted back.

"Who are you?!" Keith demanded. Armin swallowed the lump in his throat and replied confidently, "I'm Armin Arlert from Shiganshina, sir!"

"That so? A name fit for an idiot!" Keith insulted firmly. He leaned in closer, "Your parents named you that?" He asked.

"It was my grandfather, sir!" Armin answered, standing rigid.

"Arlert, why are you here?" Keith asked, bringing his face close to Armin's.

"To contribute to humanity's victory, sir!" Armin replied, closing his eyes tightly in determination.

"How very admirable," Keith said sarcastically. "You should make first-rate Titan feed." With that, Keith grabbed Armin's head, turning his body sharply before moving on to the next recruit, continuing his harsh evaluations.
