9-The Leader

Kyro didn’t fit the typical image of a leader. At 5’7” and just 22, he wasn’t the biggest like Griffin or the smartest like Eli, but everyone knew when Kyro spoke, his words were final.

Calm, collected, and soft-spoken, Kyro had a quiet intensity that drew others in. He wasn’t flashy or boastful; his actions spoke louder than words. Despite his youth and smaller stature, the team knew he was the glue that held them all together.

So here you were, walking toward him, trying to offer comfort as he smoked. You knew Kyro only turned to cigarettes when things were bad, and today’s events had been as bad as it could get. Sure, some members had sustained injuries during the fight with the Hollows, but no one had ever been bitten before—until today.

The fight had been brutal, everyone doing their best to stay quiet while battling the creatures, trying not to attract any more. That’s when Elie had been bitten. A Hollow had latched onto her cheek as Elie struggled to free herself everyone shifting to get the Hollow off her. In an instant, Kyro had ordered Vincent to hold her down, and without hesitation, Kyro had sliced into her cheek, severing the infection before it could spread.

Maybe Elie would have preferred to die than face the brutal reality of being disfigured and needing to heal when we had minimal medical equipment, but Kyro couldn’t let that happen. Elie was their strategist—the team needed her.
