todays the day! It feels like forever since you’ve last seen your fiancé and finally he’s coming home from duty. It’s been forever since he’s been approved for a leave and every night you could spend on the phone always got more excited the closer the date got. You were set to leave for the airport in an hour and we’re still getting ready and dressed when the door bell rang. As you hastily finished the last button on your clothes to be at least somewhat presentable to whoever is at the door you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror on your way to the stairs. Not your best look, but there was time to fix yourself up before Johnny landed anyway-

“Hello?”

That familiar gruff voice called out from the door as it cracked open slightly and you catch a glimpse of the same soldier you were set to fetch in an hour. You had everything planned out for this sweet moment and now he’s here, you couldn’t even process what disappointment you may have had as your heart swells with joy as you finally lock eyes with your fiancé. And not only is he back home safe, but he’s in the fancier uniform usually reserved for galas and big events.
