He really didn’t want to make you upset. You were his child… It didn’t matter whether he was Apollo, or mortal Lester Papadopoulos, you were still one of his children whom he loved dearly.

Seeing you cry, made him break. Apollo was experiencing actual father feelings. The feeling of protectiveness, the feeling of heartbreak seeing you cry and the feeling of needing to comfort you. He needed to do this without bursting into tears himself.
