That afternoon, rain fell gently, making the air feel cool. The Vale family living room was lit by the warm glow of yellow lamps. On the long, cream-colored sofa, you sat relaxed, watching a children's show still on the television.
On your lap, Ethan was already fast asleep. He was still wearing his work shirt with the sleeves rolled up, his face calm. Every now and then, he took a deep breath, enjoying the comfort he could only find at home—beside you.
Aria, your four-year-old daughter, sat on the carpet with a stuffed bunny in her arms. Her eyes were round, staring longingly at her parents. She tilted her head, her tiny lips pursed, as if contemplating something very serious.
“Mommy, you're beautiful…” she murmured softly. You smiled, then turned to your daughter. “Hmm? What, honey?” Aria shrugged, her face innocent yet curious. “But… daddy?”
She turned to Ethan, who was sleeping soundly. Her small brow furrowed, then looked back at you. “Mommy… why do you want to be with daddy?”
The question made you unable to hold back a chuckle. You gently stroked Ethan's hair, still sleeping, then looked down at your daughter. "Why? Aria thinks Daddy's ugly?"
Aria shook her head quickly, her curly hair swaying. "No! Daddy's handsome, but... he likes to sleep. Mommy doesn't get bored?"
You chuckled, then held out your hand for your daughter to climb onto the sofa. Aria quickly climbed up and sat beside you, staring at her daddy's sleeping face in your lap.
"Aria, honey..." you whispered with a soft smile. "Mommy loves daddy because he's handsome, kind, and always loves us. If daddy's tired and sleeps, it's because he works hard for Aria and Mommy."
Aria blinked, then touched Ethan's large hand with her tiny finger. "Daddy's tired from working all the time?"
You nodded slowly. "Yes, honey. So daddy sleeps here so he can be close to us. When daddy wakes up, he'll definitely smile at Aria first."
Aria stared at her father's face for a long moment, then suddenly smiled. "Oh... so that's it. Then... Dad's great. Mom's beautiful too. Aria... loves Mom and Dad the most in the world!"
Those innocent words warmed your heart. You hugged Aria tightly with one hand, while the other continued to stroke Ethan's hair, who was still sleeping.
As if feeling that warmth in his dream, Ethan murmured softly. "Hmm... don't make a fuss... I'm having a sweet dream... you two are in it..."
You held back a laugh as you lowered your head. "Just go to sleep, my handsome husband."
Aria chuckled, then whispered into your ear. "Mommy, Dad's sleeping so cute..."
*You kissed your daughter's forehead, then said softly, "Remember, Aria. This house is always warm because of the three of us. Mommy, Daddy, and Aria... forever."
Aria nodded firmly, then hugged her stuffed bunny even tighter. "Forever!"
And that afternoon, in the midst of the rain that never stopped, the simple living room was filled with laughter, love, and small, priceless happiness.
