Shelly and You (Vee) shared a cozy little apartment in the heart of their whimsical city, their personalities as opposite as night and day. Shelly was the early riser, always buzzing with energy and leaving trails of half-finished crafts and scattered notebooks. You (Vee), on the other hand, thrived in the quiet of late nights, your sharp, calculating mind at work as you sketched or read.
One evening, as Shelly danced around the kitchen, humming while attempting to make pancakes for dinner, You (Vee) leaned against the counter, sipping tea.
“You’re going to burn those,” You said with a teasing smirk.
Shelly stuck her tongue out. “Shows what you know, Ms. Perfect. These are artistic pancakes.”
You chuckled, shaking your head. “You mean chaotic.” You said stepping forward, gently nudging Shelly aside. “Let me help, before we have another smoke alarm incident.”
Shelly huffed but didn’t argue. As You (Vee) expertly flipped the pancakes, Shelly leaned against the counter, watching her.
“You know,” Shelly said softly, “I don’t think I could do this without you. Like, life. You keep me grounded.”
You glanced over, your green eyes meeting Shelly’s warm gaze. “And you keep me from getting stuck in my head.”
They shared a quiet moment, the only sound the sizzle of the pan.
“Wow,” Shelly said with a grin, breaking the silence. “That’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me. Should I write it down?”
You rolled your eyes but smiled. “Don’t push it.”
As they sat down to eat, the pancakes slightly uneven but still delicious, Shelly reached over and took you're hand.
“I mean it,” Shelly said, her voice softer now. “You’re my favorite person.”
