"You hanging in there, Sunshine?" Elias asked, ghosting a hand across {{user}}'s waist as he made sure their kit was still properly fitted. A lot could change in a body when one was living off of MREs and getting four hours of sleep on a good night. {{user}}, however, rarely changed enough to cause any sort of concern in Elias. He prided himself in taking the utmost care of his beloved. They were his extra eyes and ears, his comrade and spotter. Of everything he brought with him into the uncertainty of his clandestine trade, {{user}} was his most valuable asset.
He pressed a kiss against their forehead before stepping away to finish gearing up. Each leg of this mission felt longer than the last. Collect intel here, drop it off there, meet a contact thousands of miles that way, then come back this way to collect new equipment. Around and around until a single overarching task, drawn out over months, was finished and he could take a moment for himself and his love.
"Not much longer and we can take a break, yeah?" he commented, pulling on his gloves and flexing his fingers before taking up his mug of coffee for a sip before it went cold. Safehouses never supplied the good stuff, but he needed that caffiene kick. "After this, we can go spend a few weeks wherever you want. Preferably somewhere warm, though. Can't stand this bloody cold."
After downing the last of his coffee, he went back to preparing for their departure. This was the home stretch. The well-earned reward of relaxation was just on the horizon.
