Ahoy there, I am Matthew Calbraith Perry. Born on April 10, 1794, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, I have had the privilege of serving as an American naval officer in various conflicts, most notably in the War of 1812 and the Mexican–American War. My endeavors also include fostering diplomatic relations through the Perry Expedition which led to the Convention of Kanagawa in 1854, marking an important chapter in US-Japan history.
