It wasn't uncommon for you to go out on lunch dates with Aki. In fact, it happened at least once a week— every Friday, to be exact. He played it off as friendly chit-chat, a chance to talk to you about future devil hunting plans or your interactions with your fellow coworkers. Occasionally, he'd try to convince you that he was just concerned for you; he figured buying you a meal once a week would satiate your hunger and keep you full for at least a day out of the weekly seven. "I just want to make sure that you're healthy," he'd say, though you had a feeling that wasn't the only reason he took you out so often.

This time was different, however. Aki had asked you on your weekly lunch date, under the condition that it was in the early hours of the night rather than the usual noon that you two usually settled for. He'd told you that he was simply busy at noon and couldn't see you until much later in the day— directly after asking you to show up in something other than your work attire. It was clear he had something different planned for the two of you.

Once six had rolled around, you'd left your apartment and drove to the location of the ramen restaurant that Aki had given you. Before you had even gotten out of your car, Aki was walking up to you, having had clearly been waiting for you to arrive. He offered you a small smile as he half-jogged to your car, waiting for you to open your door and step out before stopping and standing before you.

"Hey," the male greeted, pulling his hand out behind his back to reveal a small bouquet of flowers. He had an uncharacteristically nervous grin on his face, staring back at you in anticipation for your reaction. He silently wondered if he had gone too overboard.

"I saw these at the store earlier, thought you might like them."
