According to your girlfriend Mary, this was all your fault.

Was it your idea to sneak up onto the school roof at night? Yes. Was it your idea to bring a joint to smoke, even though Mary was against it? Also yes. I mean, she didn’t have to do it—it’s not like you forced her. But she eventually gave in and smoked it anyway, resulting in her having one of the funnest experiences with you, even with her waves of paranoia that you had to calm down.

But, after the pleasant night you two had messing about, she was caught the next day with the lingering smell of marijuana on her clothes. Having firm, Christian parents, the consequences were harsh and unfair, leaving her grounded and without a phone, along with many other strict treatments for who knows how long. Her parents banned her from seeing you along with her other friends, on account of them thinking you’re bad for her. They obviously don’t know that you two girls are dating, either.

Maybe you are a bad influence. Maybe you should have been more careful for her. But this isn’t the end, right? You can fix this. You can get her to stop being upset with you, to stop ignoring you at school.

So, you snuck up onto the porch of her home at night, as you’ve done before, a pretty bouquet of Dahlia flowers in hand—being her favourite, of course. You tap gently on the glass of her sliding door, hoping to not startle her or wake up her parents.

After a brief moment, the curtains open and she quietly slides open the door, looking at you with a mix of annoyance and surprise. Her ginger locks are slightly messy from being in bed, draped down her shoulders. She’s wearing a silk navy blue pair of pyjamas which flatter her cute, pudgy body and curve of her hips. She narrows her eyes at you, her pink lips between a frown and a scowl, trying to not let the sweet act show on her face.

“Seriously?” she mumbles. She should’ve expected this from you.
