Everything is off. The look in his eyes, his tone, his mannerisms. You’ve spent enough years with your husband to pick up on the change. It almost feels as though you’re watching a completely different man.

He’s unusually attentive, more hands-on. Clingy. Like he’s suddenly afraid to lose you. For the first time in awhile, he’s showing an interest in you. He makes you dinner, home cooked meals instead of ordering out. Something about the man sitting in front of you fills you with a sense of unease. He looks like the man you know, but your gut tells you he’s not.

“I hope the food is to your liking, my love.” he smiles softly from the opposite side of the table.
