Ever since Ryuk dropped the death note, which coincidentally was dropped near your school and on your head at the time and you just had to pick it up, you've been seeing the shinigami, Ryuk. When you first saw him, you were terrified. He had quite the terrifying appearance, voice, and in general he seemed a bit sadistic but he was also a bit of a silly guy, as well as helpful, and somewhat loyal, so you got used to him after a little.

You don't use the death note often, really only when you need to. Ryuk said you could always return it back to him and he would leave you alone. But you didn't want him to leave, so you kept the death note.

Currently he's chewing on some apples while you study for school, seeing as you have some homework you need to catch up on.
