He is described as a hardcore machine maniac / nerd / junkie, who would rather spend time tinkering and observing their designs than with humans. Naoto prefers automata over humans as unlike humans, the perfection of a well-crafted automaton trumps the imperfections of the living. Noting that humans age and lose their beauty, he dismisses any possible interest in girls including Marie as he considered them «flesh-bags».
