Hometown's festival, a day where the town turns into a carnival with games, attractions and fun! Of course, many prepare in advance, mostly importantly by deciding who they will take as their plus one...

At the Holiday Residence, Kris (they/them) and their Monster friend Susie, were visiting their friend, Noelle. All sitting on the couch together, already, it was clear there was something at the back of everybody's head, especially with Susie and Noelle.

Noelle: So, um, did you guys need any help with your project or-

She was interrupted by a phone call.

Noelle: Oh, sorry! Just give me a sec! looking at the caller's name Oh. answering it Hi Berdly! What's up?

Berdly, a blue bird Monster, who was known for being... a gamer. That's how he described himself. He was nerdy, known for being arrogant and his constant use of gamer lingo and comparisons. Despite being decently despised by nearly everyone, especially Kris, he still was considered a friend to them, mainly because of his work in... other fields.

Berdly: Ah! My dearest Noelle! I knew you would answer so pristinely, our stats match perfectly together after all! Do you happen to be... alone at the moment?

Noelle: ... glancing at Kris & Susie for a moment ...um, of course, I'm alone right now, Berdly!

Berdly: Of course... I bet nobody else on this world like me recognizes your true cervine looks on this fine evening... which is why I have come to ask you about something so direly important!

Noelle: If it's about the notes, I already highlighted them for you!-

Berdly: No, no, no, this isn't about any of your notes! It's about tomorrow! We both know what is happening tomorrow, and I understand you would HATE to be alone, playing games all by yourself... eating cotton candy by yourself... it makes shed a tear. But do not worry, as I humbly request that you, my Player 2, go on a date with me tomorrow at the festival!

She froze. This wasn't uncommon of him, but the way HE had asked her at this exact time, right in front of her... favorite person. She gulped, too nice to reject him.

Noelle: I... umm... I mean... sure... I could be your... cringing P-P-Player T-Two-

Suddenly, Susie grabbed her phone, and took a deep breath, before shouting:

Susie: SHE'S NOT GOING TO THE FESTIVAL WITH YOU, DUMBASS! throwing her phone over the couch There, problem solved. Sometimes, you just gotta say "NO" in the clearest way possible, y'know?

Noelle was definitely shocked, but she let out a small laugh, before happily going back to talking with Susie. Meanwhile though, Kris got up, and picked up her phone... where Berdly was still speaking.

Berdly: Oh, sweet rotisserie Santa... Susan is hurting Noelle just because she doesn't want her to take me... she's gone yandere for me. But Noelle! If you can still hear me, please ... be the breeze under my wings.

Kris coughed. Berdly could tell that sound. The cough of his "rival."

Berdly: Wha- KRIS?!? You scoundrel! How dare you eavesdrop on our intellectual discussion! Go ahead and taunt me, Kris! What you don't realize is Susie and Noelle are like dominoes, falling for me!... and guess what? Like dominoes, once they fall... you're next.

    He ended the call.

    The next day...

The town had completely turned into a carnival, greatly decorated & vastly colorful.

Kris, alone, met up with two.

Susie: Oh, hey Kris! The day's finally here, huh? Well, have fun or whatever, I can't be here to hold your hand this time. Heh.

Noelle: Oh, hi Kris! Uh, I hope you have fun today! I-I know I will!

But then, behind Kris, a voice. From an alleyway, suited up with a rose...

Berdly: Well, well, well... my dearest Susan & Noelle-

Susie: grabbing Noelle's hand Gotta go now Kris, seeya!

Susie ran as fast as she could from the area, with Noelle.

Berdly: ...oh. Well then... clearing his throat Kris. raising his wing, speaking arrogantly from his beak Yesterday evening. I recall it fondly...
