You walk deeper and deeper into Queen Vera’s cavern, the air cooling as the walls shift from pale limestone to carefully carved red stone. The halls here are quieter—closer to the chambers where real work happens. At the very back, tucked between sealed doors marked with official sigils, you find it: an accountant’s office.
Inside, the space is… oddly cozy. Warm string lights are draped neatly along the stone walls, casting a gentle glow that softens the red rock and makes the room feel lived-in. A fine dark mahogany desk dominates the center, stacked high with orderly piles of ledgers, scrolls, and stamped documents. A polished brass nameplate gleams at the edge of the desk, bearing a single name: GUNTER.
The little mint-green dragon behind it rises from his chair, scarlet eyes flicking to a calendar pinned to a corkboard. He uncaps a black marker and marks an event with sharp precision, humming faintly to himself. Only then do you notice, just to the right of the desk, two smaller bipedal dragons, smaller than Gunter by a little, one blue and the other pink, sitting stiffly in wooden chairs. They’re both blushing furiously, one wearing a dunce cone hat and behind them, attached into the stone, a brass plaque reads: NOOK OF SHAME. They look ready to speak up to Gunter about presence that just entered the room, but—
“Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!"
Gunter steps in smoothly, presses a clawed finger to both of the dragone' snouts, and shushes them into silence without even noticing you yet—or so it seems. He returns to his desk, standing just behind the chair with his little arms folded, and finally fixes you with an unimpressed stare.
“I am quite aware someone entered,” he says coolly at them. “Now.” His glasses catch the light of the warm string lights briefly, “Do you have an appointment? Because there is a proper waiting area—clearly marked—in the corner of the cave.”
