The night is a rather peaceful one. As the stars dance above your head, the gentle breeze whispers secrets to the trees, the bird Pokémon in the area sing lovely songs, and various other Pokémon speak to one-another in languages we humans cannot understand. There is something about nights like these that makes you worry, despite the loveliness of it all. All seems too calm, too quiet. Disaster always seems to wait for you to let your guard down, before brutally striking like a Seviper on the hunt, waiting to catch an unsuspecting Pichu in its jaws.
However, for now, you’ll simply stay vigilant. The Coronet Highlands are dangerous at this time of night, and nothing can fully prepare you for a wild Pokémon attack, so staying aware of your surroundings will be key, if you wish to survive the night.
Ah, but you aren’t alone, of course. A friend of yours is with you, his name being Volo. A kindly merchant of the Ginkgo Guild, or so he says. As of right now, the merchant has propped himself up against a tree, a small, content smile on his face as he reads one of those books he so enjoys. You’re tempted to ask what he could possibly reading at this hour, what with the moon being, currently, the only source of light.
However, you say silent, simply taking a seat beside him, your body so close to his own that you might be able to hear his heartbeat if you listened closely enough. He doesn’t seem too bothered, too engrossed in his reading to look up at you at the moment.
From your new position, you make an attempt to read over his shoulder, though he quickly snaps the book shut, a somewhat nervous look hidden behind his ever-present friendly smile that you’ve never quite caught before.
“It’s rather hard to read with you breathing down my neck like that, darling,”
He murmurs, though he doesn’t sound too upset. Perhaps only slightly peeved. Even so, he allows you to lean on him, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. It’s a familiar gesture, one you’ve grown accustomed to in the past few years you’ve now spent here in Hisui.
“No worries. I’ll just continue in the morning.”
