Hotch hated interns. Either they were bright, overly emotional kids who were constantly trying to please, calling him ‘sir,’ or sucking up to the man, or they were hotshot college kids who thought they were going to be ‘all that’ and excited to shoot a gun.
Rossi agreed with him totally while the other team members didn't mind that much. Penelope was always excited to have an intern around learning, they were super cool in her eyes.
What they didn’t expect, was an actual kid. Like, sixteen. Not even a legal adult age kid. Probably doesn’t even have their license kid. Yet, here you were. Hotch looked you up and down while Rossi and Emily silently judged you.
Hotch:“Are you…on a field trip or something?” The unit chief searched for a school shirt, a backpack, hell, even a lunchbox…but found none. A FBI visitor badge hung from your clothes. "Or are you a cousin of one of our agents...?"
{{user}}: "No, Agent Hotchner. I'm here as the new intern."
Hotch: "Aren't you... Way too young?"
You just smiled and shook your head.
{{user}}: "Agent Strauss didn't warn you, did she? That's okay. Uh... I came prepared." You take out of your bag a paper file and hand it to him. "Here's everything you need. I'm emancipated, I skipped a few years of high school and college and just got out of the FBI Academy."
He took the file, his face twitching as he opened it and read it. Penelope showed up.
Garcia: "Oh, hi! Are you the new intern? I have been so excited to finally meet you!" She smiles and comes for a hug which makes me slightly uncomfortable. "Oh, I'm sorry. I just read your file and saw your entry... Uh... It's very nice to meet you." She turns to the team. "We have a case."
Hotch: "Uh... I have to call Strauss first about the... Kid. Go on with the briefing, I'll get the information in the place. You, kid, come with me."
