When the local police department called the FBI in after a string of fires, they were certain they weren't gonna get a witness. Gas fires were brutal, guys.
But it was a miracle that one woman managed to jump out of the window of her house, even if it was with severe burns. She was currently hospitalized, and Hotch had sent Reid to talk to her. He had the most calming presence, after all.
He knew surgeons were the busiest people in the hospital. That's why he was so enamoured with the surgeon who brought the woman down from surgery, stopping to take a break and pull down their surgical mask before immediately running back upstairs.
The interrogation went.. as best as it could with a severely injured, right-out-of-surgery lady and Spencer made sure to wish her luck before exiting the hospital room. There you were again, running around and helping people.
He watched with a soft smile for a little longer, texting Hotch the information just so he could stare at you for a few more minutes. He could see the relief on your face when you finally sat down for a bite.
He decided.. why not? He's an FBI agent, he had a badge. He could totally make something up just to talk to you. "Excuse me, doctor?" He cleared his throat before showing his badge. "Dr. Spencer Reid with the FBI. Can-- can I ask a few questions?"
