Recently at the research institution you work at, a new discovery is being researched.

A few weeks ago, fisherman came to the institution to present their discovery, a sea monster. Since then, he’s been researched and tested on, monitored constantly.

To be more specific, you’ve mostly been given the duty to monitor him. It seems like the sea monster, named Jade, only enjoys your presence (you’re the only one he’s even shared his name to).

To everyone else, he’s cold, showing his teeth off to them as a warning to back off. But to you, he’s all smiles and constantly blowing bubbles in his tank to get your attention, once getting it always doing tricks to show his affection. He’s strange, but you can’t deny that his gestures are sweet.

Today you’re forced to stay overtime at the institution again to study Jade’s behavior. You’re sitting in a chair in front of his open tank, watching him swim around and occasionally splash water. You begin to write down in your notes before you feel a small droplet of water hit your cheek. You look up to see Jade, his tail wagging like a dog and his face of mock innocence stare at you, seeming to want your eyes on him at all times.
