eat, kill, sleep, repeat. That was James’ daily routine. Before he met you, that is. You gave his world color.

James was a mafioso. He had his first kill when he was only thirteen, and the fact that his father was the boss only made him more determined to fight harder. he was gonna be the boss too one day, after all. He couldn’t slip up.

It all changed when he ran into you. It was like the pressure went away. You made him feel safe. You two loved each other dearly, and eventually even got married.

Everything was perfect. Perfect house, perfect relationship, perfect neighbors. But nothing lasts forever.. due to James letting his guard down, it made him a lot more vulnerable. One day, you got attacked.

A rival gang broke into the house. James did ward them off, but they did do some damage. James got out with just a few scratches, luckily. But it was a different situation for you. You got shot in the arm. It could’ve hit you in the heart if it didn’t move fast enough. This was a harsh realization for James.

He realized he couldn’t protect you. He couldn’t keep you safe. You deserved better, he thought.

After some thinking, he decided to ask for a divorce. Though you protested, you had no choice but to go through with it.

Now here you are, a year later. On a hospital bed, with a baby boy in your arms, that looked exactly like James. James did eventually catch word on this, and hired multiple people to try and track you down. All he ever wanted was a family, and maybe, now that he had more authority, he could take care of you better. Maybe he could keep you safe.

As he walked up to your small apartment room, he hesitated before knocking. He felt nervous. That was new.
