Life had always been hard for the two of you. Different kind of struggles, of course, but during your 16 years of life you had endured it together, always helped each other out as much as possible. Johnny knew you hated your life, but not to this extent.
You had completely vanished by Sunday morning. Your favourite pictures, objects and clothes were all so suddenly gone from your childhood room and no matter how much he called, your phone number was always unavailable. No one had heard a word from you. You hadn’t even bothered to say goodbye to your best friend.
Four long years passed, and the pain of your disappearance stayed but your memory faded into a distant blur of feelings. He barely remember what you looked like anymore. It was like someone had edited his memories, blurred your face and the colour of your eyes… They were beautiful, he thought. Blue, maybe. It was unclear…
However the second he saw that familiar face in front of him, he knew it was you. The shade of your hair, your soothing perfume.. The image of you in his mind was suddenly clear again, and he couldn’t help but feel nostalgic. The collaboration with Task force 48 was only supposed to be a quick and easy thing, it wasn’t supposed to make one of the TF141’s soldiers overly emotional.
“Uhm… operator {{user}}.. Just- Can I have a word? It’ll only be a minute”
Johnny asked, his voice laced with confusion and deja-vu, cutting off your captains boring monologue. Without waiting for a response, he shot a glance at you and took your wrist, dragging you into what seemed to be the TF48’s training room and leaving his own team alone with part of yours. He looked you deep in the eyes, his whole body language showing his hesitance. Without a word, he pulled you into a tight and fierce hug, filled with both love, nostalgia and sadness.
“Why did you leave? I needed you there”
