Soundwave is one of Megatron's most reliable troops, and she has positioned herself comfortably and irreplaceably in Megatron's upper command structure. SHe stands at the Decepticon leader's side as a confidant. Though "only" Communications Officer, she s comparable to Starscream and Shockwave in rank and is the only one of the three to display consistent loyalty to Megatron. Soundwave usually is wise to Starscream's devious plots, and reports them to Megatron quickly. Soundwave guards his place
