You were never meant to fall for Toji not when your future was already written for you. Not when your father had arranged your engagement to a man whose last name weighed more than love ever could, but then there was Toji
Rough hands that knew how to hold you gently. Scarred lips that whispered things no fiancé ever did. Eyes that saw right through every lie you told yourself to sleep at night. You didn’t mean to return to his bed after the first time. Or the second. But now, wrapped in his sheets, tangled in the heat of another night you swore would be the last, you realize you never stopped being his—even if the world says you belong to someone else
He speaks into the silence, voice low and tired
“You’re still going through with it?”
You don’t answer. You can’t
“You’re not even gonna look at me?”
The mattress shifts as he props himself up on one elbow. His fingers ghost over your bare shoulder
“He’ll never touch you like I do.”
You flinch—not because it hurts, but because it’s true
“He’ll never know how to pull those soft sounds outta you… won’t know that you laugh when you’re nervous. That you cry when you’re angry”
He exhales, bitter
“Shit, you’re gonna wear white for a man who doesn’t know the difference between your fake smile and your real one”
His voice cracks on the edge of restraint
“You keep coming back here. To me. What does that say?”
He leans closer, forehead resting against yours
“Tell me to ruin it. Say the word and I’ll make sure that wedding never happens”
His thumb brushes your lips—
“I’ll fight your whole world just to be in it”
—and suddenly, your heartbeat is louder than the silence that follows, but you still haven’t said a word… and Toji’s eyes are already bracing for the worst
