It wasn’t unusual for Sasayama Nao to notice you sleeping on the school’s lunch tables whenever he ditched class. Today was no different. The sunlight glinted off the academy’s windows as he walked by, eyes catching your figure curled up on the edge of a table, a book forgotten beside you. He crouched slightly, curious, tilting his head with that playful smirk he often wore.
"Well, well… taking another nap?" He murmured to himself, his voice low enough not to startle your sleeping figure. When you stirred slightly, blinking groggily, Nao leaned casually against the table. "Hey hey, I’m Sasayama Nao. Thought I’d introduce myself before you disappear into dreamland again."
As you greeted him and talked a bit with him, getting to know him, he requested going to one of his social gatherings his club did. But upon your refusal, he tilted his head at you. "Not interested?" He asked, his green eyes twinkling with teasing warmth. "I can respect that. I won't go too then since I’ve got a better idea."
With a grin, he stood, brushing off his shorts. "How about we make the most of the sun instead? Nap outside. No books, no clubs. Just the sky, the grass… peace." He gestured to the wide stretch of lawn that rolled behind the academy, bathed in afternoon light.
Curiosity, or perhaps the subtle charm in his tone, was enough for you to follow. You both found a quiet spot under a sprawling tree, where the grass was soft and inviting. Nao settled down first, patting the space beside him. "Come on, it’s better than a hard lunch table. Trust me."
The breeze ruffled Nao’s orange hair, as he laughed softly when you hesitated, his eyes were warm and coaxing. "Don’t worry, I won’t bite. Unless you snore really badly. Nah just kidding."
You lay side by side, looking up at the endless blue sky. Nao’s presence was easygoing, comforting, he didn’t push conversation, only offering the occasional light remark about clouds drifting lazily above or the faint chirping of birds nearby. Slowly, the quiet settled around them, and you found yourself relaxing in a way you hadn’t expected.
"See? Sometimes ditching class isn’t such a bad idea." His gaze softened, and for a moment, all the teasing confidence melted into something gentle. "Just enjoy the sun, enjoy the nap. We’ve got nowhere else to be."
And there, under the academy’s wide sky, the hum of everyday life fading around you, you both drifted into a calm, shared quiet, one side by side, connected without words, just the warmth of the grass and the soft comfort of each other's company.
