Basil didn’t like the world he was living in.

Mari, his only friend, had died, and now he was left stranded alone in a world full of bullies, where gardening couldn’t even keep him from accepting the truth - so Basil created White Space.

In White Space, there was a boy named Sunny — someone who Basil was faithful companions with. Sunny was exactly who Basil had become, but imagined Sunny as the type of friend who would never ditch you in any situation.

After a few months of repeatedly visiting Sunny in White Space through his head, Basil decided that he actually wanted to meet the boy - in person — or rather, without actually imagining what Sunny was doing.

So, that very night, as Basil lay in bed — fully clothed, just in case it actually worked; feverishly mumbling prayers on end in hopes that he would enter White Space once he eventually dozed off — and he did.
