Everything was going surprisingly well. Almost too well. And when everything seems perfect, something eventually has to go wrong, doesn’t it?
Being with Ghost was the best thing that had ever happened to you. Despite his cold, quiet demeanor, he found comfort with you. Around you, he was different—warmer, almost vulnerable in a way no one else ever saw. Though he struggled to open up, to share his feelings and fears, he was trying. You both were. After all, you had your own trust issues from past relationships, but day by day, you learned each other’s language. Life was… good. Simply, finally, good.
Then, the peace shattered.
An announcement went out: the base was hosting a big event, an integration party where other groups and units would be joining. Harmless, right? Except when you found out one of the units attending would include… your ex. The ex Ghost knew little about, except that the relationship had been “toxic.” He didn’t know the full story—that your ex had once been so obsessed that he’d been issued a restraining order for stalking you. And that restraining order had expired.
You weren’t sure what to do. Ghost noticed you were on edge, but he couldn’t fully understand why.
And then the day arrived. Crowds of soldiers filtered into the hall, voices and laughter filling the air. Your chest tightened when you spotted him, his smug, predatory grin piercing through the crowd.
Almost immediately, Ghost noticed the change in you. His hand was in yours, but the way you gripped it, a touch too tight, made it clear something was very wrong.
