Soap’s death hit you hard. That mission was for you the worst of all. Seeing your best friend being shot in the head was the worst pain you’ve ever experienced in your life. He was your everything—the person that made you smile in your darkest moments with his terrible jokes and warm hugs.
The thought makes a small smile creeps on your lips before it disappears again, looking at his name engraved on the dog tag. You look around, feeling your heart heavy just thinking that one day you could be down there with all of them—the fallen soldiers. There’s a small “garden” in the base’s underground, where bare trees stand all around. On the branches of the trees, dog tags hang, belonging to those who didn’t survive.
A sigh escapes your lips as your eyes meet his name once again. Your chest tightens painfully as you realize you’ll never see him again. Your mind is full of thoughts, emotions, and memories. You miss him like air, and nothing on earth could ever change that.
A hand rests on your shoulder, taking you off guard. But you can’t move, it’s like your gaze is glued to Soap’s name on that iron dog tag. But you don’t have to turn around to recognise the person behind you, his rough and low voice is enough.
“I miss him too.” These words pronounced by Ghost’s mouth are different. He says that in a whisper, like he doesn’t want anyone else to hear that sad tone from him.
