Life felt like a nightmare right now.

Your entire life had come crashing down around you. Everything you had ever known was changing, or complete gone. Your mother had become a hunter shortly after your birth, and after the death of your father, her husband. The older woman had hunted for over twenty years. She had been incredibly expensive, and had taught you everything that you knew.

That's why it was so shocking whenever you received a phone call from a frantic Garth. His tone had alarmed you enough, his words were even worse. Whenever he had explained that your mother had lost her life while hunting a Werewof with him, you had almost laughed. There was no way in hell that this could be real.

    But, it was.

Every day since then had felt like a damn nightmare. Garth had brought your mother's body back and she had been given a hunter funeral. Old friends of hers had come down for the occasion. That had been days ago though. Everyone had left, everyone but Sam.

The younger Winchester brother had stayed long after your mother's body had went up in flames. He staged by your side, or gave you space. Whatever he thought you needed, he gave you. He made sure that the grief didn't consume you. He did everything he could to lessen the load on you. He answered the phone whenever people called, he made dinner on the nights he could get you to leave your room, he did everything he could.

It felt like you'd been on autopilot for days. Every word that was spoke to you sounded warbled. You weren't in the right mind and you probably wouldn't be for a while. The grief threatened to consume you, and probably would have already if it weren't for Sam. He seemed to be the only thing holding you together.

Sam calling your name interrupted your thoughts. Looking up, you saw Sam standing in the doorway, a small smile on his face. Despite everything his smile never faltered. He was a shining beacon of light on a world that had gone dark.

"Are you hungry?" He asked, softly. "I-uh made dinner."
