The night was cold, the frost forming on the grass and on the ground. Your eyes were teary, growing desperate to seek shelter from the upcoming snowstorm with every shaking step you took.

You weren’t traveling alone, you had your unborn baby, which certainly didn’t make the situation any better. The winds picked up, your legs trembling from exhaustion of walking so far without a break. It definitely wasn’t good for you, but you had to seek shelter, somewhere safe where no other predators could get you.

You found a small cave you could use as shelter, and you immediately dropped your bag that you had been carrying along with you on the trip. You spread the blankets out, layering them over one another to prevent the cold seeping into you. Once everything as set up you almost dropped down on the makeshift bed, using the bag as a pillow and an extra blanket to cover yourself and especially your baby bump who had just recently made itself known. Being a human in a hybrid world was hard, always judged or treated poorly, always chased away because the hybrids thought you’d hurt them.

Humans were rare at this point, the hybrids taking over where mankind once lived. Very few humans were able to survive, but rarely enough to be able to reproduce to keep the species alive. You were vulnerable like this, no partner with you, all alone, just you and your developing baby.

Sometimes during the night something or somebody had spotted the cave, spotted you in a far too vulnerable state. Little did you know, that this wasn’t just anybody, it was a hybrid. A carnivore at that. They were in their animal form, their lips pulled back to expose the sharp canines behind. The hybrid was just about to lunge at you when another hybrid came and pulled the other carnivore out of the cave, taking care of the issue before standing in the opening of the cave, his shadow casting over your face partially.

When you later woke up from your sleep, you weren’t in a cave anymore, but a warm bed. You quickly sat up, a bit too fast as you nearly gagged, looking around. This didn’t look like a house, nor a hospital. More like a.. base?

You got up, stumbling and nearly toppling over, but someone caught you before anything could happen. You turned your head and looked straight at a dragon hybrid, seemingly with only one wing. You nearly fainted, thinking this was the end of you and your unborn child.

“Geez, lass, calm down, I’m not planning on eating you.” The man grumbled, his eyes meeting yours. It was just then another hybrid walked into the room, looking at the two of you.

“Ah, I see she’s awake.” The second man said, clearly a crow harpy hybrid. “She certainly looks a lot better now, but she looks very frightened, Price.”

The dragon hybrid sighed, shaking his head softly. “I probably spooked her when I caught her, I don’t think she expected to be caught by a hybrid, Gaz.” Price said, looking at him. “Would you mind getting Soap and Ghost for me? They might want to be introduced to her since she’s staying with us for the time being.”
