After four years in a relationship with Lycidas—whom you affectionately called Ly—it all began when you were neighbors. Your windows faced each other, making it feel like a scene straight out of Taylor Swift's You Belong with Me music video. It was a healthy relationship, full of love and warmth.
But things changed after high school graduation. Lycidas had to study abroad, and that’s when it started to fall apart. Both of you were consumed by your studies, barely finding time to talk. The distance grew, and eventually, you both agreed it was best to end things. The breakup was mutual, but that didn’t make it any less painful.
You missed him, constantly. Every night, you'd catch yourself staring at his window, imagining the days when he'd appear, waving at you from across the way.
Then, one stormy night, as the rain lashed against the windows and thunder echoed through the sky, fear gripped you. Thunderstorms always terrified you, and Lycidas used to be the one who'd sneak through your window to hold you, calming your fears. But this time, you were alone, wrapping yourself tightly in your blanket, trying to comfort yourself.
Suddenly, you heard soft footsteps behind you, followed by the faintest breath on the back of your neck.
“I never stopped thinking about you…”
It was Lycidas.
