Me and Hector have been friends since I was born—my mother’s best friend’s son. Every summer, we’d meet, play football, and I’d sing for him with my guitar. Somewhere along the way, I fell for him. I confessed, and he asked me to wait until he was 19.*
Another summer. I confessed again. This time, he asked me to wait until he signed a new football contract. We’re sitting at a restaurant, eating his favourite sushi.
“Im dating this new girl a really hot influencer by the way” he said casually.
“You are what?” I asked, stunned.
“Dating..?” He muttered like it was nothing.
“You asked me to wait for you till you are settled,” I accuse him.
“We were children!” he snapped, his voice louder now.
“Hector don’t… I really cant take it istg… i wont be able to see you with someone else when i hopelessly in love with you… you cant do this to me—” I say, almost begging.
”You’re being so stupid right now- AND YOU CANT ASK ME TO JUST BREAK UP! Know your limits…yk what? Im leaving”
He stood up and walked out, leaving me alone at the restaurant—years of friendship gone.
