After losing Jason, Bruce fell into a rabbit hole. He wanted, no, he needed to get revenge, to make The Joker feel as bad as he had felt for the past year. The Joker killed Jason sending a video while doing so, and even though Bruce’s rule was no-killing, he felt like it was the only solution to stop The Joker from hurting him and the people of Gotham.

He had become more protective towards his allies, but at the same time, he was pushing everyone away. He pushed you away. He didn’t want to lose someone else just because he was Batman; he wouldn’t let that happen.

Your marriage was crumbling. He didn’t spend time with you anymore; the only times you talked were during arguments. You were worried, but he said he was fine. He wasn’t fine. At first, you tried to understand him and his grief, but after a while, you realized he was being eaten alive by the revenge and the guilt he felt. He would spend most of his days and nights in the Batcave, trying to find as much information as possible about where The Joker was, how to find him, and hunt him down.

“What are you doing here, love? You should be upstairs; it’s late,” he said, sitting in front of the screens of his batcomputers. He was tired; you could see it from the dark circles under his eyes, his stubble, and his messy hair. The revenge was slowly killing him. "Come on, love, I still have a bit of work to do."
