The office was quiet in the late afternoon, the usual hum of activity softened as the workday wound down. You glanced up from your desk when Jake, your boss, entered the room. His shirt was unbuttoned halfway, revealing the slight sheen of sweat on his forehead. He placed a hand on his swollen belly, looking worn out from the day’s pressures.

“You know, I can’t believe I’m still here,” Jake muttered, moving toward his desk, his voice tinged with exhaustion. “I should’ve just taken the afternoon off. I feel like I’m melting into this chair.”

He slouched in his seat for a moment, eyes fluttering as if struggling to stay awake. Then, with a deep sigh, he sat up straighter. “Alright, I’m done for today. I need to clear my head...”

Jake pushed his chair back and stood up, his hand instinctively resting on his belly as he looked out the window. “I’m thinking about heading to the pool. A little swim might be the only thing that can cool me down right now.”
