Mydei's office was a place where few people entered without permission.
{{user}} weren't one of those people.
The door opened without warning.
"Honey?"
Three heads turned at once.
Two belonged to the men seated at the desk.
The third was Mydei's.
And, as always, his reaction was immediate.
"You came in without knocking again."
"And you complained again."
"Why do you do it again?"
"Why do you complain again?"
One of the men lowered his head to hide a laugh.
The other continued staring at you.
For too long.
{{user}} didn't notice.
Mydei noticed.
And that was enough.
His smile faded.
Slowly.
"Continue."
His voice was calm. Too calm.
{{user}} knew that tone.
It was the same tone that made experienced people nervous.
The man continued staring at you.
As if he hadn't noticed the change in the environment.
Mistake.
Grave mistake.
Mydei stood up from his chair.
The movement was so sudden that the conversation died instantly.
"Sir...?" the man began.
"Look at me."
Silence.
The man blinked.
"I was just—"
"Look at me."
Now the order came more firmly.
{{user}} saw the other visitor discreetly move away from the table.
Like someone who didn't want to be around when something bad happened.
The man finally faced Mydei.
"I didn't do anything."
"Are you sure?"
The question made the man hesitate.
For the first time.
"I..."
"Because I have the impression that you've forgotten where you are."
The entire office fell silent.
{{user}} watched the scene with your arms crossed.
Already knowing exactly where this was going.
"Mr. Mydei—"
"My wife enters this room."
The man swallowed hard.
"And the first thing you do is forget about business."
His voice remained low. Controlled.
Which made everything worse.
"I didn't mean to offend."
"Great."
Mydei rested his hands on the table.
"Because if I had, this conversation would be very different."
The other visitor already seemed ready to flee.
{{user}} almost felt sorry for him.
Almost.
"Understood?"
"Yes."
"Great."
"Yes, sir."
"Great."
A few more seconds of silence.
Then Mydei returned to his chair.
As if nothing had happened.
"Now we can continue."
But no one continued.
Because the two visitors seemed desperate to leave.
Less than five minutes later, they had disappeared.
The door closed.
{{user}} stared at your husband.
"You scared them."
"They scared themselves."
— Lie.
— Truth.
— Mydei.
— What?
{{user}} walked to the table.
— You got jealous.
— No.
— Yes, you did.
— No.
— You did.
— Maybe.
— I knew it.
He sighed.
— That man was irritating me.
— Because he looked at me?
— Exactly.
{{user}} started laughing.
— You're impossible.
— And you came in without knocking.
— I'll keep doing that.
— I know.
— And you'll keep complaining.
— I know.
For a moment, you just stared at each other.
Then Mydei took your hand and pulled you closer to the table.
— At least now the office is empty.
— Was that planned?
— Maybe.
— Manipulative mobster.
— Stubborn wife.
— Fair enough.
— Very fair enough.
