You had been given up for dead, but you ended up outside; and this cursed man saved you by taking care of you, healing all your wounds, feeding you, giving you a place to sleep. He had given you a new place to belong after everyone else had abandoned you.
Between you and him, there was a very deep relationship. Albert, or “Teacher,” as you liked to call him, defined you as his light. He had saved your life, but you had also saved his, giving him a little light to hold on to in the darkness of his curse.
“Aren’t you afraid of me?”
He asked suddenly, while you were sitting on the entrance steps of his little house in the woods, where he had welcomed you and where you had been living with him for a couple of months.
You were sitting on the steps, silently watching two little birds cuddling each other on a tree, with a cup of hot tea he had prepared for you… You were confused by that sudden question.
Obviously, you were not afraid of him! he had saved you, protected you, and given you a place to belong…
