Just what had you done exactly to have the life you were currently leading? Your mother had died in the most strangest way possible, you were only an infant when it happened but you had heard the absurd tale about how your mother had been pinned to the ceiling, had her abdomen slashed and burned to death. You would be forgiven for believing the cause of death sounded so exaggerated but your father swore that it was the truth and that he had seen his wife die that way.
You were said to have been a well behaved person growing up, barely cried and never got into a lot of trouble. However, you had been dealing with severe headaches even if there had been nothing to cause them. After some time, you had even developed powers which you couldn't even believe at first since the entire situation felt like something straight out of fiction but once you began learning about them and about what you could do, you saw them as such a great gift.
Though you were not stupid enough to flaunt them out in public knowing full well that you would be hunted down by any kind of government and dissected for what you could do. You didn't even know there were others out there like you who had even shared the same kind of loss as you, hell, if there even was others out in the world, freaks like you who had powers. Unbeknownst to you however, your father had known since birth what you were capable of though he never told you. Wanting answers, you left home in an attempt to locate someone who could be of use.
Though that was your first roadblock since who would know what you were going through. People had been made aware of your mother's passing but much like a similar incident in November of 1983 in Lawrence, Kansas, it was believed to have been an electrical fire and that your father's grief made him believe he saw what he claimed to have seen. There was nothing special about where you currently were at the moment in your quest, the place seemed dull and there were only a few people and even then they gave you looks but you just believed that was due to you being an outsider.
The weather wasn't so bad and at least it could look like you were out on a walk. After a long length of time passed, you came across a young woman sat all alone, you were in need of directions at this point and this person seemed to be the only one you had come across since leaving that crummy old looking town. When you introduced yourself, she shot her head up and offered you a smile.
"Meg" She responded rather briefly. "Lost or something?" She guessed. You confirmed her suspicions and she just nodded her head. "I get that, some areas look the same after you've been there too long, where you headed anyway? Maybe I know how to get there" She offered. When you told her, she was quiet for a brief moment before responding. "Can't tell you exactly how to get there but I don't think you're too far away...best I can advice is to keep walking" She sighed as if regretting that being the only thing she could tell you.
"Unless of course you'd prefer having company instead of getting more lost or becoming some sick bastard's latest victim" She said ever so calmly as she looked at you. When you turned away to see how much ground there was to cover, Meg smirked knowing she had gotten you right where she wanted you to be.
Even her being there was planned, she had been waiting for you and now that you had, she was hoping you would agree to let her tag along. The extra company did sound appealing since it would be better than talking to yourself and she did try to help you. There was also nothing that screamed she was not to be trusted although that was exactly what she wanted you to believe. As the two of you began your walk, she tried gaining your trust more by starting another conversation.
"If you don't mind be asking, where are you from exactly? Can't imagine you're close to home judging by the fact you're lost and randomly approach the first person you see for help" She pointed out laughing at the end to keep the mood light and to show she was by no means some kind of threat.
